\r\n This year’s theme set by the International Council of Nurses was “Nurses: A force for change – improving health systems’ resilience”.
\r\n\r\n The participants stressed the need for nurses to contribute to developing strong and resilient health systems locally in Palestine and particularly in the Gaza Strip.
\r\n\r\n University president Dr. Adnan Hajjar said: “As a large group of health professionals, with a presence in all settings, nurses can make an enormous impact on the resilience of our health systems.
\r\n\r\n By promoting the nursing system, we can help guide improvements in the quality of health service delivery and inform health systems strengthening,” he added.
\r\n\r\n Dr. Atef Masad, Dean of faculty of Health Professions said:” Joint efforts are required to ensure that policymakers provide the necessary support for nursing staff to enhance their capacity to meet new challenges to contribute in the development of the health system and able to deal with the future challenges”. He added, “I hope everyone will take the opportunity of International Nurses Day to thank the nurses who have made a difference for our society during the recent cycle of conflict in Gaza”.
\r\n\r\n Head of Nursing Union, Dr. Suleiman Turkman said: “we are committed to support the Palestinian nurses to achieve their rights as a major workforce in our community. We owe our nurses a real debt of gratitude and I want to personally thank all my colleagues and wish them a happy International Nurses Day”.
