📌 Al-Israa University Discusses a Master’s Thesis on Legal Guarantees for Workers under Palestinian Labor Law
Gaza – Public Relations
Al-Israa University discussed a master’s thesis in the Law program titled: “Legal Guarantees for Workers under Palestinian Labor Law: A Comparative Analytical Study” by researcher Wissam Iyad Ishtaywi. The defense was held in person at the headquarters of the Sharia Lawyers Syndicate in Gaza City, in the presence of the examination committee, a number of academics, interested attendees, and the researcher’s family.
The examination committee consisted of Dr. Akram Sobhi Mazhar as the main supervisor, Prof. Afif Mohammad Abu Kalloub as co-supervisor, Dr. Omar Khader Saad as internal examiner, and Dr. Munther Khader Al-Hilu as external examiner.
The session was also attended by Dr. Munther Azzam, Dean of the Faculty of Law, along with several lecturers.
The thesis addressed a highly important topic, focusing on the legal guarantees established to protect workers within the framework of Palestinian Labor Law. It included a comparative analysis aimed at identifying strengths and weaknesses in relevant legislation, contributing to enhancing legal protection for workers and achieving balance between parties in labor relations.
The topic is considered a contemporary legal issue with significant practical impact, as workers’ rights and guarantees are a fundamental pillar for achieving social justice and economic stability—especially in light of rapid developments in the labor market and the challenges faced by workers in practice.
The study concluded with several key findings, أبرزها that legal protection for workers in Palestine exists at the legislative level, but its practical effectiveness still suffers from weaknesses in implementation, oversight, and judicial enforcement. It also showed that the enforcement of labor rulings represents the weakest link in the protection system, as delays or obstacles in enforcement deprive workers of their practical rights and weaken social justice.
The study also presented a number of recommendations, including the need to amend certain provisions of Palestinian Labor Law to enhance clarity of rights and guarantees, particularly regarding unfair dismissal, grievance mechanisms, and worker protection.
In addition, it recommended strengthening the effectiveness of labor القضاء (judiciary), accelerating the enforcement of rulings, and simplifying litigation procedures to ensure workers can access their rights quickly and effectively.
It is worth noting that the Deanship of Graduate Studies at Al-Israa University grants master’s degrees in Business Administration, Law, and Accounting and Finance Sciences.
