<h1>Al-Isra University Publishes the 15th Issue of the Al-Isra University Journal of Applied Sciences</h1> <p class="isSelectedEnd">Al-Isra University – Palestine has published the 15th issue of the <em>Al-Isra University Journal of Applied Sciences</em>, which represents the second issue of Volume 9, as part of the university’s ongoing efforts to support scientific research and strengthen the presence of its academic journals at both the Arab and international levels.</p> <p class="isSelectedEnd">The new issue features a diverse collection of scientific research covering fields including medical, health, and laboratory sciences; microbiology and immunology; artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things; chemistry, pharmaceutical chemistry, and materials science; environmental sciences, water, and pollution; agriculture and biological control; engineering and water resources management; mathematical and statistical modeling; and digital mapping technologies.</p> <p class="isSelectedEnd">The issue also includes research addressing health, environmental, and humanitarian issues related to Palestine and the Gaza Strip, alongside studies by researchers from Arab and international countries, reflecting the scientific and geographical diversity of the research published by the journal.</p> <p class="isSelectedEnd">The journal continues to strengthen its position in international scientific databases. It is indexed in Scopus, where it is ranked in the third quartile (Q3), and its CiteScore has reached 1.4.</p> <p class="isSelectedEnd">As part of its development plan, the journal is preparing to move to four issues per year starting in January 2027. This transition is intended to accommodate the growing number of manuscripts submitted to the journal, expand publication opportunities, and accelerate editorial and peer-review processes, while maintaining standards of quality and scientific integrity.</p> <p class="isSelectedEnd">The journal has also recently updated its online platform, enhancing its interface and the way scientific content is presented. These improvements are intended to enhance the experience of researchers and readers and facilitate access to published research and the journal’s services.</p> <p class="isSelectedEnd">Dr. Abdul Fattah Qarman, Editor-in-Chief of the journal and Dean of Scientific Research and Libraries at Al-Isra University, said that the publication of the 15th issue represents a new milestone in the journal’s development and its growing scientific presence. He noted that its classification in the third quartile (Q3) in Scopus provides an incentive to continue improving the quality of publication and peer review and to expand the journal’s presence at both the Arab and international levels. He added that the transition to four issues annually, beginning next January, together with the update of the online platform, forms part of an integrated plan to develop the journal and enhance its scientific and editorial services.</p> <p class="isSelectedEnd">Qarman expressed his appreciation and gratitude to the editorial teams, editorial board members, reviewers, and editors for their continued scientific and professional efforts. He emphasized that the journal’s achievements are the result of collective work involving distinguished scholars and academics from Palestine, the Arab world, and various countries around the globe.</p> <p class="isSelectedEnd">For his part, Dr. Maher Al-Bayoumi, Managing Editor of the journal, stated that the new issue reflects the expanding range of scientific fields covered by the journal and the diversity of the research it publishes. He noted that work is continuing to develop procedures for manuscript submission, peer review, editing, and publication, as well as to strengthen communication with researchers and reviewers. These efforts aim to improve editorial efficiency and maintain the quality of published research.</p> <p class="isSelectedEnd">Dr. Ahmad Al-Nasri, Head of Scientific Journals at Al-Isra University, explained that the development taking place at the <em>Al-Isra University Journal of Applied Sciences</em> is part of the university’s vision to advance its scientific journal system and strengthen its presence in international databases and rankings. <p class="isSelectedEnd"><strong>Israa University Discusses a Legal Study on the Prospects of the Legal Framework for Transitional Administration in the Gaza Strip</strong></p> <p class="isSelectedEnd"><strong>Gaza – Public Relations</strong></p> <p class="isSelectedEnd">Isra University organized a specialized legal forum to discuss a study entitled <em>“The Legal Framework for Transitional Administration in the Gaza Strip in Light of UN Security Council Resolution No. 2803 of 2025, the Charter of the Peace Council, and its Resolution No. 1 of 2026.”</em> The study was prepared by Mr. Munir Saeed Al-Aqbi and Dr. Sharif Baalusha.</p> <p class="isSelectedEnd">The forum was attended by Eng. Omar Al-Hindi, Chairman of the University’s Board of Trustees; Prof. Dr. Alaa Matar, President of the University; Dr. Munther Azzam, Dean of the Faculty of Law; and a group of academics, legal professionals, human rights experts, researchers, members of the university community, and other interested participants via Google Meet.</p> <p class="isSelectedEnd">At the beginning of the forum, moderated by Dr. Tareq Al-Dairawi, Associate Professor at the Faculty of Law, Mr. Munir Saeed Al-Aqbi presented the study, addressing its subject, significance, objectives, and methodology. He explained that the study examines the legal and regulatory framework governing transitional administration in the Gaza Strip, including the structures, entities, and powers associated with it, in light of UN Security Council Resolution No. 2803 of 2025, the Charter of the Peace Council, and its Resolution No. 1 of 2026.</p> <p class="isSelectedEnd">University President Prof. Dr. Alaa Matar emphasized that the importance of the study stems from its relevance to a sensitive stage in which issues of law, administration, institutions, rights, and the future of public life in the Gaza Strip intersect. He noted that the university views academic research as an essential tool for understanding the transformations taking place in society, analyzing and documenting their implications, and anticipating their future trajectories.</p> <p class="isSelectedEnd">Prof. Dr. Matar added that Isra University, which has continued its educational and research mission despite the circumstances of war and significant challenges, remains committed to producing knowledge on issues affecting the present and future of Palestinian society. He stressed that the current stage requires rigorous academic studies and multidisciplinary approaches that contribute to developing Palestinian knowledge capable of understanding and analyzing reality.</p> <p class="isSelectedEnd">For his part, Dr. Munther Azzam, Dean of the Faculty of Law, explained that the study constitutes a legal contribution to the analysis of transitional arrangements for the administration of the Gaza Strip. It examines their legal foundations, the nature of the powers granted to the structures and entities established under these arrangements, and their relationship with the principles of international law and the Palestinian Basic Law.</p> <p class="isSelectedEnd">The study reached a number of conclusions, most notably that certain provisions and powers set out in the Charter of the Peace Council and its Resolution No. 1 of 2026, according to the researchers’ analysis, go beyond the framework established by UN Security Council Resolution No. 2803 of 2025. This raises legal and institutional questions concerning the scope of certain powers and authorities granted to the entities established under the arrangements.</p> <p class="isSelectedEnd">The researchers emphasized that any transitional arrangements should be based on respect for Palestinian legal sovereignty and the unity of the constitutional and legal system. They further stressed that such arrangements should not result in the establishment or entrenchment of permanent institutions that could undermine the legal and political personality of the State of Palestine. <h3>Accounting Department at Al-Isra University Concludes Graduation Research and Field Training Discussions for Summer Semester Students</h3> <p class="isSelectedEnd"><strong>Gaza – Public Relations</strong></p> <p class="isSelectedEnd">The Accounting Department at the Faculty of Administrative and Financial Sciences at Al-Isra University in Palestine has concluded the discussions of students’ graduation research projects, along with the evaluation of internal and external field training activities and reports for students enrolled in the Summer Semester of the 2025–2026 academic year. This comes as part of the Department’s commitment to strengthening the integration between academic knowledge and practical application and aligning educational outcomes with the requirements of the labor market.</p> <p class="isSelectedEnd">The graduation research discussions were conducted electronically via <strong>Google Meet</strong>, with the participation of the Dean of the Faculty, Dr. Samar Atallah; Head of the Accounting Department, Dr. Mohammad Salem Abu Yousef; as well as faculty members serving as supervisors and members of the discussion committees.</p> <p class="isSelectedEnd">The graduation research projects addressed a range of contemporary accounting and financial issues, most notably <strong>the role of cloud accounting in reducing information asymmetry among companies listed on the Palestine Exchange</strong>, and <strong>the impact of strategic management accounting techniques in supporting financial flexibility amid exchange rate fluctuations among industrial companies listed on the exchange</strong>. These topics reflect the students’ interest in emerging issues relevant to the accounting and economic environment.</p> <p class="isSelectedEnd">In the same context, the Department completed the discussion sessions for students’ internal and external field training activities and reports. These training experiences provided students with opportunities to apply their academic knowledge in real-world work environments at a number of public and private sector institutions, despite the challenging and complex circumstances. The experience contributed to familiarizing students with the nature of accounting work and its practical applications, developing their professional skills, and enhancing their readiness to enter the labor market.</p> <p class="isSelectedEnd">The discussion committees commended the academic and professional level demonstrated by the students in their graduation research projects and field training reports, highlighting their ability to apply their academic knowledge to both research and practical aspects and to benefit from the experience and skills gained during their training period.</p> <p class="isSelectedEnd">For her part, <strong>Dr. Samar Atallah</strong> praised the efforts of the students, faculty members, and supervisors, emphasizing the importance of such discussions in developing students’ research and practical capabilities and strengthening the integration of academic knowledge with practical application, thereby contributing to preparing graduates who are better equipped for the labor market.</p> <p>In turn, <strong>Dr. Abu Yousef</strong>, Head of the Accounting Department, congratulated the students on their achievements and commended the efforts of the faculty members, supervisors, and discussion committee members. <p class="isSelectedEnd"><strong>College of Law Holds an Orientation Session on Legal Studies and the Future of the Specialization</strong></p> <p class="isSelectedEnd"><strong>Gaza – Public Relations </strong></p> <p class="isSelectedEnd">The College of Law organized a welcoming and orientation session for newly admitted students, attended by Dr. Munther Azzam, Dean of the College; Dr. Abdul-Ilah Ishtaiwi, Head of the Department of Law; and Mr. Mustafa Diab, Director of Student Affairs. The session also featured Mr. Sufyan Siam, a lawyer and university lecturer, as a guest speaker. The event was held at the university’s premises in Gaza City and online via Zoom.</p> <p class="isSelectedEnd">In his welcoming remarks, Dr. Munther Azzam welcomed the new students, emphasizing that joining the College of Law marks the beginning of an important academic and professional journey. <h3>Isra University Discusses Journalism Students’ Research on Media During the Gaza War</h3> <p class="isSelectedEnd"><strong>Gaza – Public Relations:</strong></p> <p class="isSelectedEnd">Isra University discussed a number of graduation research projects by bachelor’s degree students in the Department of Journalism and Media and Communication Technology at the Faculty of Humanities. The research addressed media and national issues related to the Israeli genocidal war on the Gaza Strip during the period 2023–2025, with a focus on the role of the media in coverage and documentation, conveying the Palestinian narrative, and countering misinformation.</p> <p class="isSelectedEnd">The research projects were discussed in person at the university’s Al-Nasr campus in Gaza City, alongside the discussion of several projects via videoconferencing. The sessions were attended by faculty members, supervisors, and academics from inside and outside the Gaza Strip, as part of the university’s efforts to continue its academic mission despite the exceptional circumstances facing the Strip.</p> <p class="isSelectedEnd">The research topics varied, covering media coverage of the war, journalistic verification and the ethics of using artificial intelligence, investigative journalism and the documentation of violations, the role of digital media in promoting national unity, the role of television drama in preserving Palestinian memory and narrative, and the impact of social media platforms on journalists’ performance during the war.</p> <p class="isSelectedEnd">Dr. Asmaa Nasr, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities, emphasized the Faculty’s commitment to linking graduation projects with pressing national and humanitarian issues. She highlighted the role of academic research in examining Palestinian realities and documenting the transformations taking place within society. She also commended the efforts of the students and supervisors, noting that the research demonstrated an awareness of the importance of the media in documenting events, countering misinformation, and analyzing the transformations taking place in the media landscape.</p> <p class="isSelectedEnd">For her part, Ms. Maryam Ihab Al-Haj Ahmad, the course supervisor, explained that the students’ choice of research topics was consistent with the transformations that the war has imposed on media work. <p class="isSelectedEnd"><strong>Student Affairs Department Volunteer Team Organizes Health Awareness Activity on Chronic Diseases</strong></p> <p class="isSelectedEnd"><strong>Gaza – Public Relations</strong></p> <p class="isSelectedEnd">The Volunteer Team at the Student Affairs Department organized a health awareness activity entitled <strong>“How to Manage Chronic Diseases: Diabetes and Hypertension”</strong> at Wafa 3 Camp, west of Gaza City. The activity was part of the department’s efforts to strengthen its community role and promote health awareness among members of the community.</p> <p class="isSelectedEnd">The activity targeted residents of the camp, particularly older adults, patients, and their families, with the aim of raising awareness about diabetes and high blood pressure, their main symptoms, risk factors, and prevention methods. It also provided essential health guidance on managing these conditions and reducing their potential complications.</p> <p class="isSelectedEnd">The activity included an awareness lecture highlighting the importance of regular health check-ups and medical follow-up, maintaining a healthy diet, reducing salt and sugar intake, adhering to prescribed medications, and recognizing warning signs that require medical attention.</p> <p class="isSelectedEnd">The event also included voluntary blood pressure and blood glucose measurements for participants, along with individualized health guidance. In addition, an interactive session was held to answer participants’ questions, and educational materials on the prevention and management of chronic diseases were distributed.</p> <p class="isSelectedEnd">For his part, <strong>Mr. Mustafa Diab, Director of the Student Affairs Department</strong>, emphasized the importance of such initiatives in promoting students’ sense of social responsibility and raising health awareness within the community. The meeting was attended by a number of academic staff members, as well as Prof. Dr. Nahid Hijazi, Vice President for Academic Affairs; Dr. Munther Azzam, Vice President for Administrative and Financial Affairs; and Dr. Abdel Fattah Qarman, Dean of Scientific Research and Libraries, along with a number of academics, researchers, and individuals interested in scientific research.</p> <p class="isSelectedEnd">The meeting opened with a welcoming speech delivered by Dr. Abdel Fattah Qarman, who welcomed the attendees and participants and emphasized the importance of the workshop in developing the skills of academic researchers and enhancing their ability to use modern tools and platforms in the fields of scientific research and academic publishing. He also noted that keeping pace with the rapid developments in research tools, particularly digital tools and artificial intelligence applications, has become essential for improving the quality of scholarly output and strengthening the presence of both researchers and the university within academic circles.</p> <p class="isSelectedEnd">The first session, entitled <strong>“The Researcher’s Digital Identity,”</strong> was presented by Dr. Huda Labad, a faculty member at the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology. She highlighted the importance of building a strong digital identity and enhancing researchers’ academic presence. She also introduced a number of important digital platforms and tools, explaining their role in documenting researchers’ scholarly output, promoting their research, and expanding their academic networks.</p> <p class="isSelectedEnd">In the second session, <strong>“The Use of Artificial Intelligence Tools in Scientific Research,”</strong> Dr. Ahmad Ezzat Al-Salibi, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology, delivered a presentation on the most prominent artificial intelligence applications and tools that researchers can benefit from at various stages of the research process. He explained how these tools can contribute to improving researchers’ efficiency and the quality of their research, while emphasizing the importance of using such tools responsibly and in accordance with academic standards.</p> <p class="isSelectedEnd">Dr. Abdel Fattah Qarman also presented the third session, entitled <strong>“Selecting the Appropriate and Reliable Scientific Journal for Publication.”</strong> He reviewed a number of academic databases, platforms, and scholarly rankings, and explained the mechanisms for selecting the most suitable scientific journal for publishing research. He also introduced practices that can help researchers avoid predatory journals.</p> <p class="isSelectedEnd">The meeting featured active participation and discussions among attendees. The studies were published in reputable, peer-reviewed international scientific journals, reflecting the university’s growing engagement with research issues of priority to Palestinian society.</p> <p class="isSelectedEnd">The studies addressed a range of issues related to the consequences of the war, including the health effects of biomass use and alternative fuels amid the energy crisis; the impact of wars and armed conflicts on air pollution and environmental health; the effects of war and destruction on biodiversity and ecosystems; as well as the relationship between household hunger and symptoms of depression, anxiety, and stress among the population of the Gaza Strip.</p> <p class="isSelectedEnd">These studies reflect a research-oriented approach to documenting the direct and indirect consequences of the war from a multidisciplinary scientific perspective, bringing together the fields of public health, environmental health, pollution, biodiversity, food security, and mental health. The study is entitled: <strong data-start="498" data-end="616">“Breastfeeding and Weaning During War and Siege: Mothers’ Knowledge, Practices, and Challenges in the Gaza Strip.”</strong></p> <p data-start="618" data-end="1043">The study was conducted in response to the difficult humanitarian conditions experienced by the Gaza Strip. It aimed to assess the current state of breastfeeding and weaning practices among mothers during the war, while identifying the main challenges and barriers affecting child nutrition and maternal health. The study included a sample of mothers attending healthcare centers in the central governorate of the Gaza Strip.</p> <p data-start="1045" data-end="1349">The research was prepared by students <strong data-start="1083" data-end="1154">Iman Al-Hawajri, Siham Abu Shawish, Hadeel Houso, and Raghad Samour</strong>, demonstrating the ability of university students to engage in scientific research and produce studies addressing health and humanitarian issues relevant to the realities of Palestinian society.</p> <p data-start="1351" data-end="1695">The study findings indicated that war and siege, along with food shortages, psychological stress, and limited healthcare support, constituted major barriers to mothers’ adherence to exclusive breastfeeding. These findings highlight the need to strengthen health, psychological, and awareness-support programs for mothers during times of crisis.</p> <p data-start="1697" data-end="2160">In this context, <strong data-start="1714" data-end="1737">Dr. Taleb Abu Maala</strong>, Dean of the Faculty of Medical Sciences, praised the outstanding efforts made by the students and their supervisors in preparing and publishing the research in an international peer-reviewed scientific journal. He emphasized that this achievement reflects a high level of dedication to scientific research and the students’ ability to apply their academic knowledge to producing high-quality research of scientific value.</p> <p data-start="2162" data-end="2653">Dr. Abu Maala further explained that this achievement comes as part of the Faculty of Medical Sciences’ and Isra University’s commitment to strengthening students’ practical and research skills, developing their scientific capabilities, and encouraging them to conduct applied studies addressing health and community-related issues. The sessions were attended by Dr. Samar Attallah, Director of the Deanship of Graduate Studies; Dr. Monther Azzam, Dean of the Faculty of Law; and committee members Dr. Tareq Al-Deirawi, Dr. Akram Mazhar, Dr. Osama Al-Akhras, and Dr. Monther Al-Hilu.</p> <p class="isSelectedEnd">The seminar was opened by Dr. Monther Azzam, Dean of the Faculty of Law, who welcomed the committee members and master's students. He emphasized the importance of these academic meetings in enhancing the quality of scientific research, developing students’ research skills, and guiding them toward producing rigorous legal studies that address contemporary legal issues and respond to community needs.</p> <p class="isSelectedEnd">During the seminar sessions, a number of research proposals submitted by master's students were discussed. Committee members provided academic feedback and methodological guidance aimed at improving the research plans and enhancing the quality of graduate studies outcomes.</p> <p>These sessions are part of the Deanship of Graduate Studies’ commitment at Al-Israa University to strengthening the quality of graduate programs and providing a supportive academic and research environment for master's students.
