<p class="isSelectedEnd"><strong>Student Affairs Department Volunteer Team Organizes Health Awareness Activity on Chronic Diseases</strong></p> <p class="isSelectedEnd"><strong>Gaza – Public Relations</strong></p> <p class="isSelectedEnd">The Volunteer Team at the Student Affairs Department organized a health awareness activity entitled <strong>“How to Manage Chronic Diseases: Diabetes and Hypertension”</strong> at Wafa 3 Camp, west of Gaza City. The activity was part of the department’s efforts to strengthen its community role and promote health awareness among members of the community.</p> <p class="isSelectedEnd">The activity targeted residents of the camp, particularly older adults, patients, and their families, with the aim of raising awareness about diabetes and high blood pressure, their main symptoms, risk factors, and prevention methods. It also provided essential health guidance on managing these conditions and reducing their potential complications.</p> <p class="isSelectedEnd">The activity included an awareness lecture highlighting the importance of regular health check-ups and medical follow-up, maintaining a healthy diet, reducing salt and sugar intake, adhering to prescribed medications, and recognizing warning signs that require medical attention.</p> <p class="isSelectedEnd">The event also included voluntary blood pressure and blood glucose measurements for participants, along with individualized health guidance. In addition, an interactive session was held to answer participants’ questions, and educational materials on the prevention and management of chronic diseases were distributed.</p> <p class="isSelectedEnd">For his part, <strong>Mr. Mustafa Diab, Director of the Student Affairs Department</strong>, emphasized the importance of such initiatives in promoting students’ sense of social responsibility and raising health awareness within the community. <h1>Isra University Organizes Meeting on Tools for Early-Career Researchers in Scientific Research and Publishing</h1> <p class="isSelectedEnd"><strong>Gaza – Public Relations</strong></p> <p class="isSelectedEnd">The Deanship of Scientific Research and Libraries at Isra University – Palestine organized a meeting entitled <strong>“Tools for Early-Career Researchers in Scientific Research and Publishing”</strong> at the university’s premises in Gaza City. The meeting was attended by a number of academic staff members, as well as Prof. Dr. Nahid Hijazi, Vice President for Academic Affairs; Dr. Munther Azzam, Vice President for Administrative and Financial Affairs; and Dr. Abdel Fattah Qarman, Dean of Scientific Research and Libraries, along with a number of academics, researchers, and individuals interested in scientific research.</p> <p class="isSelectedEnd">The meeting opened with a welcoming speech delivered by Dr. Abdel Fattah Qarman, who welcomed the attendees and participants and emphasized the importance of the workshop in developing the skills of academic researchers and enhancing their ability to use modern tools and platforms in the fields of scientific research and academic publishing. He also noted that keeping pace with the rapid developments in research tools, particularly digital tools and artificial intelligence applications, has become essential for improving the quality of scholarly output and strengthening the presence of both researchers and the university within academic circles.</p> <p class="isSelectedEnd">The first session, entitled <strong>“The Researcher’s Digital Identity,”</strong> was presented by Dr. Huda Labad, a faculty member at the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology. She highlighted the importance of building a strong digital identity and enhancing researchers’ academic presence. She also introduced a number of important digital platforms and tools, explaining their role in documenting researchers’ scholarly output, promoting their research, and expanding their academic networks.</p> <p class="isSelectedEnd">In the second session, <strong>“The Use of Artificial Intelligence Tools in Scientific Research,”</strong> Dr. Ahmad Ezzat Al-Salibi, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology, delivered a presentation on the most prominent artificial intelligence applications and tools that researchers can benefit from at various stages of the research process. He explained how these tools can contribute to improving researchers’ efficiency and the quality of their research, while emphasizing the importance of using such tools responsibly and in accordance with academic standards.</p> <p class="isSelectedEnd">Dr. Abdel Fattah Qarman also presented the third session, entitled <strong>“Selecting the Appropriate and Reliable Scientific Journal for Publication.”</strong> He reviewed a number of academic databases, platforms, and scholarly rankings, and explained the mechanisms for selecting the most suitable scientific journal for publishing research. He also introduced practices that can help researchers avoid predatory journals.</p> <p class="isSelectedEnd">The meeting featured active participation and discussions among attendees. <p class="isSelectedEnd"><strong>Al-Israa University Strengthens Its International Research Presence Through Studies on the Health, Environmental, and Humanitarian Impacts of the War on Gaza</strong></p> <p class="isSelectedEnd"><strong>Gaza – Public Relations</strong></p> <p class="isSelectedEnd">Al-Israa University has strengthened its international research presence through the participation of a number of its researchers in multidisciplinary scientific studies examining the health, environmental, and humanitarian impacts of the war on the Gaza Strip. The studies were published in reputable, peer-reviewed international scientific journals, reflecting the university’s growing engagement with research issues of priority to Palestinian society.</p> <p class="isSelectedEnd">The studies addressed a range of issues related to the consequences of the war, including the health effects of biomass use and alternative fuels amid the energy crisis; the impact of wars and armed conflicts on air pollution and environmental health; the effects of war and destruction on biodiversity and ecosystems; as well as the relationship between household hunger and symptoms of depression, anxiety, and stress among the population of the Gaza Strip.</p> <p class="isSelectedEnd">These studies reflect a research-oriented approach to documenting the direct and indirect consequences of the war from a multidisciplinary scientific perspective, bringing together the fields of public health, environmental health, pollution, biodiversity, food security, and mental health. They provide scientific evidence that can contribute to recovery and reconstruction efforts and support the development of future policies.</p> <p class="isSelectedEnd">A number of researchers from Al-Israa University participated in this research activity, including Dr. Abdel Fattah Qarman, Dr. Maher Al-Bayoumi, Dr. Ahmed Hassan Al-Balbeisi, and Dr. Nour Al-Din Al-Bayoumi, in collaboration with researchers and academic institutions from Palestine, Malaysia, Iran, and other countries.</p> <p class="isSelectedEnd">The research works were published in reputable, peer-reviewed international scientific journals indexed in recognized global databases, reflecting the quality of the research outputs and the significance of the topics addressed. These publications also contribute to strengthening Al-Israa University’s presence within the international research and scholarly publishing community.</p> <p class="isSelectedEnd">Dr. Abdel Fattah Qarman, Dean of Scientific Research and Libraries at Al-Israa University, emphasized that this research activity reflects the university’s commitment to supporting researchers and encouraging them to engage in local and international research groups, while linking scientific research to the real challenges facing Palestinian society.</p> <p class="isSelectedEnd">Dr. Qarman stated that expanding collaboration with international researchers and academic institutions is one of the key priorities pursued by the Deanship of Scientific Research and Libraries, given its role in enhancing the quality of scientific production, strengthening the university’s international presence, and creating broader opportunities for researchers to participate in multidisciplinary studies with scientific and societal impact.</p> <p class="isSelectedEnd">He added that the university will continue to support research that contributes to documenting the health, environmental, and humanitarian consequences of the war on the Gaza Strip, including its impacts on air quality, public health, mental health, food security, biodiversity, and ecosystems. This will help maximize the contribution of scientific research findings to sustainable recovery and reconstruction efforts.</p> <p class="isSelectedEnd">Concluding these research achievements, Professor Dr. Alaa Matar, President of Al-Israa University, affirmed that Al-Israa University continues to demonstrate its ability to lead and excel despite all challenges and difficulties.</p> <p class="isSelectedEnd">Prof. Dr. Matar added: “This distinguished international research presence of our researchers is a message of determination and knowledge that has emerged from the heart of the suffering in Gaza, telling the story of our people’s resilience through the language of science and rigorous research. The course was organized as part of the university’s efforts to strengthen international academic and scientific cooperation, expand training opportunities, and facilitate the exchange of expertise in public health and humanitarian crisis response.</p> <p data-start="703" data-end="1128">The course was conducted within the framework of the scientific and academic partnership under which Isra University serves as a <strong data-start="832" data-end="861">Learning Hub in Palestine</strong>. It aimed to build participants’ capacities, exchange knowledge and expertise, and develop the skills of researchers, academic staff, and professionals in public health and humanitarian crisis response, in line with the growing needs of crisis-affected environments.</p> <p data-start="1130" data-end="1492">Dr. <strong data-start="1134" data-end="1157">Abdel Fattah Qarman</strong>, Dean of Scientific Research and Libraries at Isra University, emphasized that the conclusion of the course represents an important milestone in the university’s efforts to strengthen its international academic partnerships and benefit from global expertise in developing training programs, scientific research, and capacity building.</p> <p data-start="1494" data-end="1962">Qarman explained that cooperation with international academic institutions contributes to advancing scientific knowledge and practices and opens new opportunities for researchers and academic staff to learn and develop. He stressed the importance of directing such partnerships toward pressing, real-world issues, particularly public health and humanitarian crisis response, in order to meet the needs of Palestinian society amid the current exceptional circumstances.</p> <p data-start="1964" data-end="2458">For his part, <strong data-start="1978" data-end="1998">Hassan Abu Obeid</strong>, Head of the Field Training Department at the Faculty of Intermediate Studies and the course coordinator in Palestine, stated that the course provided participants with a valuable training opportunity and contributed to enhancing their knowledge and skills in dealing with humanitarian crises, understanding the challenges facing public health systems, and identifying mechanisms for strengthening their ability to respond effectively in emergency situations.</p> <p data-start="2460" data-end="2765">Abu Obeid noted that the course provided a space for learning and exchanging experiences between participants and specialists, while linking theoretical knowledge with practical applications. This, he said, enhances the readiness of professionals to address the growing health and humanitarian challenges.</p> <p data-start="2767" data-end="3170">The course covered several specialized topics, most notably <strong data-start="2827" data-end="2986">humanitarian crises and public health systems, health responses in emergencies, capacity building, health systems development, and evidence-based practices</strong>. The study is entitled: <strong data-start="498" data-end="616">“Breastfeeding and Weaning During War and Siege: Mothers’ Knowledge, Practices, and Challenges in the Gaza Strip.”</strong></p> <p data-start="618" data-end="1043">The study was conducted in response to the difficult humanitarian conditions experienced by the Gaza Strip. It aimed to assess the current state of breastfeeding and weaning practices among mothers during the war, while identifying the main challenges and barriers affecting child nutrition and maternal health. The study included a sample of mothers attending healthcare centers in the central governorate of the Gaza Strip.</p> <p data-start="1045" data-end="1349">The research was prepared by students <strong data-start="1083" data-end="1154">Iman Al-Hawajri, Siham Abu Shawish, Hadeel Houso, and Raghad Samour</strong>, demonstrating the ability of university students to engage in scientific research and produce studies addressing health and humanitarian issues relevant to the realities of Palestinian society.</p> <p data-start="1351" data-end="1695">The study findings indicated that war and siege, along with food shortages, psychological stress, and limited healthcare support, constituted major barriers to mothers’ adherence to exclusive breastfeeding. These activities were supervised by a group of specialized doctors and lecturers from the Faculty of Medicine at Al-Israa University, along with experienced practicing physicians, allowing students to benefit from direct practical expertise and develop their clinical and laboratory skills.</p> <p data-start="1778" data-end="2223">In support of practical training, the university has coordinated and implemented the applied component in cooperation with a number of healthcare institutions and public, private, and NGO medical laboratories. This provides diverse training environments that help fulfill the practical training requirements for students in the basic stage (Biomedical Sciences) and strengthen the integration between education and real-world medical practice.</p> <p data-start="2225" data-end="2627">Dr. Al-Madbouk emphasized that resuming the practical component is a key step in supporting the academic journey of the faculty’s students, stressing the faculty’s commitment to continuing practical and applied training in line with modern medical education requirements, and contributing to preparing qualified medical professionals capable of meeting the needs of society and the healthcare sector.</p> <p data-start="2629" data-end="3074">For his part, Dr. Abdul Fattah Qarman explained that the university continues its efforts to support the educational and research process, activate laboratories and applied activities, and enhance students’ academic and practical capabilities despite existing challenges. He affirmed the university’s commitment to providing a motivating educational environment that contributes to improving medical education outcomes and scientific research.</p> <p data-start="3076" data-end="3476" data-is-last-node="" data-is-only-node="">In turn, Professor Dr. Matar confirmed that Al-Israa University is moving forward with implementing its academic plan to restore university life in all its aspects, with a focus on practical and applied courses.
