The Faculty of Law at Al-Israa University – Palestine organized a mock trial for its students at the Sharia Lawyers Syndicate in Gaza City. The event was attended by Dr. Munther Azzam, Dean of the Faculty of Law; faculty member Mr. Abdulilah Ashtaywi; and Mr. Ayman Abu Aisha, Head of the Sharia Lawyers Syndicate.

This activity was part of a practical application of a mock criminal trial within the requirements of the Judicial Applications course at the Faculty of Law. Students assumed the roles of judges, public prosecutors, and defense attorneys in a training experience aimed at strengthening the practical aspect of their studies and linking theoretical knowledge with real judicial procedures.

In his speech, Dr. Munther Azzam praised the event, emphasizing its importance in developing students’ skills and shaping their legal personalities. He stated: “At the Faculty of Law, we are keen to تعزيز the practical aspect alongside the theoretical one due to its major role in preparing students to engage with the legal work environment. Mock trials represent a real opportunity for students to understand litigation procedures in practice and to develop their skills in advocacy, legal analysis, and teamwork within the justice system.”

He added that the faculty continues to develop its practical programs in cooperation with professional and legal institutions to ensure the preparation of graduates who are academically and practically qualified and capable of competing in the job market.

Dr. Azzam also extended his thanks to the Sharia Lawyers Syndicate for their hospitality and effective cooperation in making the event successful, praising the strong partnership between the university and the syndicate in serving law students and graduates.

For his part, Mr. Ayman Abu Aisha commended Al-Israa University, the Faculty of Law, and its students, appreciating the faculty’s efforts to strengthen practical training through mock trials and applied activities. He said: “We take pride in this constructive cooperation with Al-Israa University and its Faculty of Law, which reflects a clear commitment to preparing law students both practically and professionally alongside theoretical education. Such applied activities, especially mock trials, significantly contribute to refining students’ skills and enabling them to realistically understand litigation procedures, enhancing their readiness for the legal job market.”

He added that the students’ active participation in performing the roles of judiciary, prosecution, and defense reflects an advanced academic level and genuine interest in self-development, affirming the syndicate’s continued support for such initiatives that serve legal education.

Meanwhile, Mr. Abdulilah Ashtaywi stated that organizing mock trials in the Faculty of Law is an important step in enhancing the practical side for students and directly connecting them with real litigation procedures. He noted that this training experience offers students a unique opportunity to apply what they have learned theoretically in a courtroom setting by performing the roles of judge, prosecutor, and defense lawyer, thereby developing their legal skills and strengthening their abilities in analysis and advocacy.

He emphasized that the positive interaction of students during the mock trial reflects a high level of seriousness and commitment, stressing the importance of continuing such applied activities due to their direct impact on preparing qualified law graduates for the legal job market.

At the conclusion of the event, students expressed their appreciation for this training experience, confirming that it enhanced their practical understanding of trial proceedings and procedures, and provided them with a real opportunity to apply what they had studied theoretically in a setting that simulates the real judicial environment.
