Gaza – Public Relations

The Faculty of Law at Al-Isra University participated in a specialized workshop organized by the Independent Commission for Human Rights (ICHR) via Zoom. The workshop reviewed a legal and research report titled: “Environmental Destruction as a Weapon: The Destruction of the Environment by Occupation Forces during the Crime of Genocide in the Gaza Strip and Its Impact on Public Health.” This comes as part of the faculty’s efforts to strengthen its academic and national presence.

The faculty was represented at the workshop by Professor Abdel-Ilah Ishtayeh, Head of the Law Department, who emphasized the importance of such meetings in highlighting the serious consequences of the systematic targeting of the Palestinian environment. He considered this targeting an extension of crimes that warrant international prosecution under international humanitarian law and international environmental law.

This participation comes under the guidance of the Faculty of Law’s deanship, reaffirming the university’s role in engaging with contemporary national and human rights issues, and in enriching the academic and research community with solid legal perspectives that contribute to protecting Palestinian human rights and the environment.
