Isra University Organizes Meeting on Tools for Early-Career Researchers in Scientific Research and Publishing

The Deanship of Scientific Research and Libraries at Isra University – Palestine organized a meeting entitled “Tools for Early-Career Researchers in Scientific Research and Publishing” at the university’s premises in Gaza City. The meeting was attended by a number of academic staff members, as well as Prof. Dr. Nahid Hijazi, Vice President for Academic Affairs; Dr. Munther Azzam, Vice President for Administrative and Financial Affairs; and Dr. Abdel Fattah Qarman, Dean of Scientific Research and Libraries, along with a number of academics, researchers, and individuals interested in scientific research.
The meeting opened with a welcoming speech delivered by Dr. Abdel Fattah Qarman, who welcomed the attendees and participants and emphasized the importance of the workshop in developing the skills of academic researchers and enhancing their ability to use modern tools and platforms in the fields of scientific research and academic publishing. He also noted that keeping pace with the rapid developments in research tools, particularly digital tools and artificial intelligence applications, has become essential for improving the quality of scholarly output and strengthening the presence of both researchers and the university within academic circles.
The first session, entitled “The Researcher’s Digital Identity,” was presented by Dr. Huda Labad, a faculty member at the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology. She highlighted the importance of building a strong digital identity and enhancing researchers’ academic presence. She also introduced a number of important digital platforms and tools, explaining their role in documenting researchers’ scholarly output, promoting their research, and expanding their academic networks.
In the second session, “The Use of Artificial Intelligence Tools in Scientific Research,” Dr. Ahmad Ezzat Al-Salibi, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology, delivered a presentation on the most prominent artificial intelligence applications and tools that researchers can benefit from at various stages of the research process. He explained how these tools can contribute to improving researchers’ efficiency and the quality of their research, while emphasizing the importance of using such tools responsibly and in accordance with academic standards.
Dr. Abdel Fattah Qarman also presented the third session, entitled “Selecting the Appropriate and Reliable Scientific Journal for Publication.” He reviewed a number of academic databases, platforms, and scholarly rankings, and explained the mechanisms for selecting the most suitable scientific journal for publishing research. He also introduced practices that can help researchers avoid predatory journals.
The meeting featured active participation and discussions among attendees. Participants raised a number of questions and inquiries related to scientific research and academic publishing, which were addressed by the presenters, contributing to enriching both the practical and knowledge-based aspects of the meeting.
