Within its plan to transition to face-to-face education, Al-Israa University strengthens its cooperation with the “Scientists Without Borders” organization

A delegation from Al-Israa University – Palestine visited the headquarters of the “Scientists Without Borders” organization in Khan Younis to discuss prospects for joint cooperation and to enhance academic partnerships in the field of higher education, support the return to in-person learning, and explore initiatives that serve the academic sector and strengthen its resilience and continuity.
The Al-Israa University delegation included: Prof. Dr. Ala’a Mattar, President of the University; Dr. Nahid Hijazi, Vice President for Academic Affairs; Dr. Munther Azzam, Vice President for Administrative and Financial Affairs; Eng. Mousa Al-Asoul, Director of Planning, Quality, and Human Resources; Dr. Ehab Abu Al-Khair, Director of Public Relations; and Dr. Ramz Hassouna, Head of the Business Administration Department.
They were received on behalf of the “Scientists Without Borders” organization by Dr. Hamza Abu Daqqa, head of the organization in Gaza; Dr. Maryam Abu Salah, International Cooperation Officer; and Dr. Mohammed Othman Shbeir, Education Sector Officer in the organization.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed ways of mutual cooperation, including supporting face-to-face education, developing the university environment, and enhancing opportunities for cooperation with local and international universities, in addition to initiatives aimed at improving the quality of higher education in Palestine.
For his part, Dr. Ala’a Mattar, President of the University, said:
“We greatly appreciate the important role played by the Scientists Without Borders organization in supporting the higher education sector, especially its efforts to support the return to face-to-face education, which restores vitality to the university campus and enhances the quality of the educational process.”
Dr. Mattar also praised the initiative to establish a university space that helps attract universities and academic institutions, including Al-Israa University, stressing that this step is a pioneering initiative that will have a significant positive impact in the coming period in terms of academic cooperation and exchange of expertise.
For his part, Dr. Hamza Abu Daqqa, head of Scientists Without Borders in Gaza, welcomed the Al-Israa University delegation and praised its distinguished academic role and the specialized programs it offers, which have contributed to providing society with qualified professionals.
Dr. Abu Daqqa considered the university’s resilience and its continued fulfillment of its educational mission despite difficult conditions and the targeting of some of its facilities during the war as reflecting a high level of institutional flexibility and adaptability to crises, as well as strong organizational structure and effective leadership in managing exceptional circumstances and ensuring the continuity of the educational process.
He noted that the university’s continued educational journey reflects strong determination and a firm commitment to students and society, affirming full readiness to strengthen cooperation and partnership with Al-Israa University in a way that serves the development of higher education in Palestine.
The delegation conducted a field tour inside the facilities of the Scientists Without Borders organization, where they reviewed classrooms, infrastructure, and available educational equipment, and listened to an explanation of the organization’s work mechanisms and efforts to develop the educational environment. The delegation members expressed their admiration for the level of organization and available resources, emphasizing the importance of these efforts in supporting and sustaining the educational process.
At the end of the visit, Al-Israa University honored the Scientists Without Borders organization by presenting it with a commemorative shield in appreciation of its efforts and role in supporting the higher education sector and enhancing its resilience and continuity.
