Gaza – Public Relations
As part of its strategic vision to enhance international academic cooperation and support the resilience of higher education in the Gaza Strip, Al-Israa University – Gaza signed two international Memoranda of Understanding with the University of Glasgow in the United Kingdom and with the Palestinian Students and Scholars at Risk Network (PSSAR) in Canada. These agreements open new horizons for students and researchers in the fields of applied education, scientific research, and postgraduate studies.
The Memorandum of Understanding with the University of Glasgow, signed on December 15, 2025, comes within the framework of the “Practical Resources for Gaza Students” initiative. It aims to provide digital, practice-oriented educational resources, including laboratory recordings and applied materials supporting scientific courses, thereby enhancing the quality of university education and compensating for the shortage of practical facilities under the exceptional circumstances facing the Gaza Strip.
In addition, Al-Israa University signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the PSSAR Network on October 29, 2025. This agreement focuses on supporting postgraduate studies and scientific research opportunities for outstanding students and graduates, strengthening academic nomination and international research networking, and organizing joint scientific activities and seminars. These efforts contribute to building academic capacity and opening new prospects for Palestinian researchers.
Professor Dr. Alaa Mattar, President of Al-Israa University, affirmed that these agreements reflect the university’s commitment to its national and academic mission, stating:
“The signing of these agreements embodies the confidence of international academic institutions in Al-Israa University and its scientific role. It also reaffirms our belief that education and scientific research are the fundamental pillars for building a better future for our people, despite all the challenges imposed by the reality in the Gaza Strip.”
He added that the university will continue to expand its network of international partnerships in ways that positively impact students and faculty members and enhance the quality of education and scientific research.
For his part, Dr. Abdul Fattah Qarman, Dean of Scientific Research and Libraries, explained that these agreements represent a qualitative leap in the path of international academic cooperation, emphasizing:
“These partnerships provide practical tools to support scientific research and enable our students and researchers to access advanced educational resources, postgraduate opportunities, and international research communication, thereby strengthening Al-Israa University’s presence in the global academic landscape.”
He noted that the Deanship of Scientific Research will work to activate the provisions of the agreements and translate them into practical programs and outputs that serve students and researchers and contribute to supporting the continuity of Palestinian higher education.
These agreements come as part of Al-Israa University’s ongoing efforts to enhance international cooperation, affirm its academic and community role, and consolidate its position as an active Palestinian higher education institution open to global partnerships.
