Al-Isra University Welcomes a Delegation from the International Committee of the Red Cross

Al-Isra University received a delegation from the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in the Gaza Strip to explore avenues of joint cooperation. The meeting took place at the university's main headquarters in Al-Zahra City. The delegation was welcomed by Dr. Ahmed Al-Hassaina, Vice President of the University for Administrative and Financial Affairs; Dr. Samir Zaqout, Head of the Clinical Psychology Department; Dr. Rafat Al-Hour, Director of the Public Relations Department; and Dr. Talal Al-Deeb, a faculty member. The ICRC delegation included Mr. Fayez Al-Aqra’, Advisor to the Director of the International Committee; Mr. Yousef Al-Yazji, Director of the Media and Publications Department in Gaza; Mr. Hisham Muhanna, Spokesperson for the Committee in the Gaza Strip; along with Ms. Nidaa Murtaja and Ms. Islam Al-Helo from the Mental Health Department. Dr. Al-Hassaina welcomed the delegation to Al-Isra University, emphasizing the crucial humanitarian role played by the ICRC in supporting the rights of the Palestinian people and Palestinian detainees. For his part, Mr. Fayez Al-Aqra’ expressed his pleasure at visiting the university and the facilities it provides to students to ensure their right to dignified education. He noted that the ICRC prioritizes assisting students and people with disabilities and appreciates the efforts made by Al-Isra University in this field. He affirmed the ICRC’s full readiness to enhance cooperation with Al-Isra University in multiple areas, particularly mental health and clinical psychology. Discussions focused on activities commemorating World Mental Health Day, observed annually on October 10, and an agreement was reached to form a joint committee for these events. At the end of the meeting, the delegation was introduced to the university’s facilities, academic programs, and the Al-Isra Medical City project. The university, in turn, welcomed any joint projects with the ICRC that would benefit its students.
