Al-Israa University holds its first in-person meeting of the University Council at its damaged campus in northern Gaza

On Sunday morning, November 16th, Al-Israa University - Palestine held its first in-person University Council meeting since the end of the war at its northern Gaza campus, despite the extensive damage it sustained during the aggression. Deans located outside the Gaza Strip also participated via the Microsoft Teams video conferencing platform.
The meeting was chaired by Professor Dr. Alaa Matar, Acting President of the University, and attended by the Academic Vice President, Professor Dr. Nahed Hijazi, the Administrative and Financial Vice President, Dr. Munther Azzam, the deans of the faculties, and several department heads.
This meeting sends a clear message of resilience, reflecting the University's determination to continue its educational mission and maintain the academic process despite the challenges and difficulties resulting from the devastating war.
The meeting began with a recitation of Al-Fatiha in remembrance of the martyrs of Palestine and the martyrs of the University, with prayers for the speedy recovery of the wounded and the freedom of the prisoners. During the meeting, the council reviewed several academic and administrative matters related to the start of the new academic year, including mechanisms for e-learning and its development. They also discussed plans to develop academic programs and ensure the quality of education under the exceptional circumstances facing the sector.
Attendees also explored ways to rehabilitate the university's damaged facilities and enhance support for students and staff, contributing to the uninterrupted continuation of the educational process.
Professor Matar emphasized that holding the meeting at the northern campus, despite the extent of the destruction, carries national and academic significance, demonstrating Al-Israa University's commitment to its role in human development and strengthening the resilience of the sector. He stressed that the university will continue to fulfill its mission despite all the challenges it has faced, including the destruction of the main building and the medical city in Al-Zahraa, and the extensive damage to other facilities.
At the conclusion of the meeting, attendees wished all students success in their academic journey during the upcoming phase, affirming the university's commitment to providing all necessary support to ensure a stable and effective education.
