Al-Israa University held the defense of a master's thesis in the Master of Business Administration (MBA) program entitled "Crisis Management and Its Impact on Improving the Quality of Healthcare Services Provided in Palestinian Hospitals in the Southern Governorates." The thesis was presented by researcher Sameer Saeed Sameer Shubair and was conducted online via Google Meet, in the presence of the examination committee, academics, and interested attendees.
The examination committee consisted of Dr. Nabil Abdul-Louh, Assistant Professor of Management, as the principal supervisor; Dr. Ayman Hassan Al-Deirawi, Associate Professor of Strategic Management, as co-supervisor; Dr. Badr Shahda Hamdan, Assistant Professor of Management, as the internal examiner; and Dr. Mohammad Joudat Fares, Associate Professor of Business Administration, as the external examiner.
The defense was attended by Professor Nahed Hijazi, Vice President for Academic Affairs; Dr. Samar Attallah, Dean of the Faculty of Administrative and Financial Sciences; and the Director of Graduate Studies.
The study aimed to analyze the relationship between crisis management and the quality of healthcare services amid the exceptional challenges facing the healthcare sector in the Gaza Strip, including the ongoing blockade, repeated military attacks, and the limited availability of human and material resources.
The findings revealed that Palestinian hospitals have developed substantial institutional experience in crisis management despite the extraordinary circumstances. The study also highlighted the greater importance of institutional factors—such as organizational size and resource availability—compared with individual factors in improving crisis response and service quality.
The study concluded with several recommendations, most notably the need to strengthen crisis prevention measures through regular training and simulation programs, establish permanent crisis management units within hospitals, standardize protocols and procedures across healthcare institutions, and benefit from the accumulated expertise of Al-Shifa Medical Complex by transferring its experience to other hospitals.
It is worth noting that the Deanship of Graduate Studies at Al-Israa University offers master's degree programs in Business Administration, Law, and Accounting and Finance.
